Dandy Walker Malformation is gone?I was diagnosed by multiple doctors (around 5) with having Dandy Walker’s Malformation in utero. However, when i was born my doctor said my brain appeared to be completely normal and the Dandy Walker’s Malformation was gone. I was wondering if I can develop Dandy Walker’s later in life. Also, could there be after-effects of the malformation as my brain continues to develop? I am 17 now. Also, i have a venous malformation on my eye lid and was wondering if that is linked to DW in any way and if it can have negative side effects? I haven’t had any trouble with it so far. Thank you 2 comments to Dandy Walker Malformation is gone? You must be logged in to post a comment. |

Dandy-Walker is congenital which means that if someone has it that it is present from birth. Perhaps this was a case of an incorrect diagnosis in utero (which is not uncommon) or that what they suspected was the malformation was the variant or hypoplasia of the celebellar vermis. The last two are on the DW spectrum but don’t meet the clinical definition of the malformation.
I’ve not heard of DW being linked to venous malformation. If we come across anything we will surely post it.
Thanks,
Eric
i have been told most people get it after years without it
