Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy

A neurosurgeon has recommended that my 7 month old son has a endoscopic third ventriculostomy to reduce pressue on his brain. The only operation I have read about since the DWS diagnosis is the shunt operation. I was wondering if anybody has any experience of the endoscopic third ventriculostomy operation that they could share with me? Many thanks
