Middle school options in Tampa area?

Hello new to this site. My 12 year old was not diagnosed until 3 with DWS. A cyst was found from an MRI done because he started having seizures. His developmental milestones were all delayed and his pediatrician said it was because he was just a lazy boy…After the seizures I pushed.. A lot..obviously he was not just lazy…His IEP is classifed as OHI otherwise health impaired. He is in a specialized class in his middle school. HE has progressed well but I am not very happy with the school. I am researching different schools in the area. He has been approved for the Mckay scholarship. He is one grade level behind in reading (loves reading) and probably 2 grade levels at least behind in Math( hates Math),, He needs special assistance in learning and Iam having problems finding that in other schoools. I am also looking for a Developmental Pediatrician in the Tampa areatoo, if anyone has any information on any I would love the help..

  • Hi! I just saw your post. My little one is only 2 1/2 so I’m no expert with the school system yet, but your post caught my eye since I live in Tampa. Our daughter was diagnosed in utero, but we’re still learning more about DWS and how is affects her. I would love to chat someone… feel free to send me an email! stephanie dot e dot carroll at gmail dot com.

At one point I had a list of developemental pediatricians here – we never saw one though, so I’ll have to look for the list.
