seeking optionsMy name is Alexis K. I’m 20 years old and was diagnosed with DW when I was 9. I’ve struggled with a learning disability, strebismis which I had corrective surgery for when I was 1 1/2 yrs, moderate to severe motor “Tics”and mild OCD. Despite all of the chalenges that I have had to face I graduated from High school and am Now in collage. the most frustrating things I have to cope with now are the tics and mild ocd. I have tried several meds but they just make me real dopey and don’t stop the tics I still twitch just as much I just do it more slowly. I have had difficulty finding anyone else with similar symtoms to mine. I wold like to hear from anyone reading this that knows anyone with DWS or has it with symlr symptoms, especialy anyone having success treating motor tics, to coment or email me with any helpful info keatorsinbend@yahoo.com 2 comments to seeking optionsYou must be logged in to post a comment. |

I just want to say thank you to you for sharing your story. Though I cannot help you, you have helped me by shedding Light and giving me HOPE for my daughter who is still a baby that she can function in society. I wish you peace, and hope you find the answers you are looking for.
Hi!
You also give me hope for my daughter. she is 12 yrs old and does not have tics but sways and rocks. Especially when she is not thinking about anything like watching TV or listening to music. It kinda looks like what Stevie Wonder does when he’s singing and playing the piano. She doesn’t even knows she’s doing it and can’t control it sometimes. Sometimes she doesn’t do it for along time. Then starts up again. I wish i could help you with some great thing we have done to fix it or control it but we haven’t had any sucess. We just let my daughter know she’s doing it quietly and not obvious so if she can stop she does. Some people have made in fun of her for this so she’s glad when we tell her. If you have any other questions or would like to share your story with my daughter you can email us jildegraced@sbcglobal.net.
